As 2015 comes to a close, PCRI is preparing welcome baskets which will be provided to next year’s new residents and homeowners. A gift of $20 welcomes a family to their new home with a laundry basket filled with essentials like dish soap, sponges, garbage bags, a shower curtain, a spray bottle and ingredients for nontoxic homemade cleaners—essentials that a family may not have, or may be hidden at the bottom of a moving box.

Welcome BasketIt doesn’t take much to make a big difference.  Please join PCRI by giving on any level: by donating, volunteering, or helping spread the word about how our work prevents displacement and creates stability. Helping out this season is easy:

  • $100 will welcome 5 families to their new homes with a basket full of household essentials
  • $20 welcomes one family to their new home, where they can build self-sufficiency and stability
  • Sharing is giving too!  “Like” us on Facebook and follow us Twitter. Post a photo showing why affordable housing is important to you – share it on our wall or tag us in it!

Betty Mason, PCRI Homeownership participantYour support provides education and support for first-time homeowners like the ShawsBetty (pictured at left) and Rachel, so they can achieve their dream (and in turn, their rental home is available to stabilize another family!). It helps families like the Orrs, providing stable housing so their children can succeed in school. And your support enables youth to grow and thrive, building confidence while learning new skills, so they can avoid the cycle of poverty.

#GivingTuesday is a national campaign on December 3, 2013, just following “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday,” that will create a day of giving to celebrate and encourage the community to participate in charitable activities.

This year, PCRI is thrilled to be a part of #GivingTuesday! It doesn’t take much to make a big difference and we appreciate giving on any level through donations, volunteering, or helping spread the word. Here are a few suggestions for your #GivingTuesday:

  • A donation of $20 will provide our community centers with art supplies, school supplies and tools for job seekers.
  • A donation of $50 will provide English language software, helping residents build valuable skills to break the cycle of poverty.
  • Catch up on what’s been happening at PCRI.  Read our latest Fall 2013 newsletter.
  • “Like” us on Facebook and follow us Twitter. Email your networks. Use social media to spread the word about #GivingTuesday – tell your friends, neighbors, and family about this special giving opportunity.

PCRI, the community and the world want to help make this giving season the biggest yet!
